Journeying Through the Questline & Pre-Tower

When you first begin the game, you are immediately thrust into the quest line with next to no other available combat modes. As it would imply, the quest line is the first thing you should be working on. Not only does it begin as one of the easiest ways to obtain gold and equipment, it will take you through a large part of your leveling as well as provide you with episode clear rewards that are helpful for your current level. It is advised that you follow the quest all the way through until it becomes rather difficult to manually win before you begin reinforcing or pursuing anything else.

Remember to gear up your heroes & reinforce your equipment once the going gets tough. While it is normally discouraged to spend money on reinforcement early on in the game, it is the first thing you should consider upon encountering difficulty. A maximum of A-class is advised (up until about War God) to minimize the amount spent so that you may save your gold to replenish your energy and for future gear. If you are still having difficulty clearing your content and have no access to the next level of equipment, bump your weapons (damage dealers) and armor (tanks) up to S. To recall the most efficient order of reinforcement, see here.

It is also important to properly designate who gets each piece of equipment. Damage dealers should be the first to receive better weapons, and the best damage dealer you have should be the first to receive the best weapon you have or acquire. Tanks should prioritize armor parts; however, these should be designated based on need. That is, if you see a less durable frontline hero taking more damage than they can fluently handle, you should give them either better equipment, or reinforce what they have.

You will generally want to follow the questline until you reach about level 50 with a good collection of A-class War God equipment for about 8~9 of your heroes. For those who would like a little more flexibility, the Tower of Chaos and Hero Wars become options available to you at level 10. Hero Wars, especially, is important as it is a large part of your gold income that will be discussed in the next section.
